Photography Study Program FSMR ISI Yogyakarta Holds Problem Solving Based Lecturer Training FGDs

Yogyakarta, October 28, 2024 - To improve the quality of teaching, the Photography Study Program of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) ISI Yogyakarta held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "Problem Solving Based Lecturer Training" in the framework of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM). The event, which was held in classroom 5 of Photography Study Program, FSMR, was attended by 12 lecturers and presented Fitri Alfariz, S.Fil., M.Phil., Philosophy lecturer from Gadjah Mada University, as the main speaker.

This activity focuses on introducing problem-solving concepts and techniques in learning. This approach is designed to help lecturers create a more dynamic classroom atmosphere, where students can be directly involved in the process of finding solutions to various problems. By adopting this method, students are expected to not only understand the theory but also be able to apply it in real situations in the field of photography.

The event began at 08.30 WIB with an opening session and remarks, followed by resource person presentations until 11.00 WIB. In the presentation session, Fitri Alfariz explained the basics of problem solving methods and the importance of this approach to prepare graduates who are better prepared to face the challenges of the world of work. According to him, problem solving is not only about finding solutions, but also training students' critical and analytical thinking skills.

After a short break, the event continued with group discussion sessions and FGDs until 13.00 WIB. The lecturers were actively involved in the discussion on ways to integrate this method into their learning. Various ideas, strategies, and challenges in implementing problem solving methods in the classroom were discussed in depth, creating a productive and inspiring discussion atmosphere.

With the success of this FGD, FSMR ISI Yogyakarta hopes that lecturers can apply a problem-solving-based approach to enrich the teaching and learning process in the Photography Study Program. This activity is expected to be the first step in producing graduates who are not only technically competent, but also have the ability to think critically and are ready to face a dynamic world of work.
