ISI Yogyakarta Dance Students Win 2nd Place at PEKSIMINAS in 2024

Students of the Dance Study Program (Prodi), Faculty of Performing Arts, ISI Yogyakarta won 2nd place in the National Student Art Week (PEKSIMINAS) in 2024 which was held at Jakarta State University, on September 2 to 7, 2024. Dance Study Program students who made achievements in the biggest art competitions for students in the country include Icha Fikri Kurniawan, Dhanurwenda Kintaka Hastra, Ardi Yoga Saputra, Fandi Gilang Saputra, Jerry Bayu Mawardi, Kresna Wahyu Bandiansis and Raihan Putra Tulus Pambudi. At PEKSIMINAS 2024, the seven students performed a work entitled Kanca Abrit by choreographer Icha Fikri Kurniawan.

Kanca which means friend is a designation in the courtiers' environment, and Abrit is a mention of the color identity of the courtiers who have the task of upholding in the palace environment. This work is inspired by the devotion of Kanca Abrit's courtiers, by interpreting a job that seems to have the lowest social stratum but is not a burden, because his devotion to the King is not for material alone but his sincerity and simplicity in serving as in the Javanese expression, namely sepi ing pamrih rame ing gawe is cultural wisdom that has a noble concept of thought to be something unique from the existence of Kanca Abrit's devotion in the midst of modernity.

The achievements obtained by ISI Yogyakarta Dance Study Program students not only make ISI Yogyakarta campus proud, but also make the Yogyakarta Special Region Contingent proud which is coordinated by the Indonesian Student Art Advisory Board (BPMSI) Yogyakarta Special Region. Hopefully this achievement can be maintained in the upcoming PEKSIMINAS.
