The Performing Arts Education Study Program will hold a National Seminar entitled "The Role of Teachers in Applying Pancasila Values through Performing Arts" on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Concert Hall of the Yogyakarta Institute of Arts, at 13.00 WIB until completion. This national seminar will describe and provide insight into how teachers manipulate performing arts to instill Pancasila values to students or the younger generation. To discuss this topic, the seminar will present two speakers, Prof. Dr. Kuswarsantyo, M.Hum. (Professor of Dance Education Study Program, Yogyakarta State University) and Drs. Susilo Nugroho (Theater Artist, Director and Retired Teacher).
The first speaker, Dr. Kuswarsantyo, M.Hum. will provide insights from an academic perspective on the role of teachers in utilizing performing arts to internalize Pancasila values into students. While the second speaker, will share knowledge from his experience as a practitioner in the field of performing arts as well as a teacher.
Performing arts, such as theatre, dance, and traditional music, can be an effective medium to convey and internalize Pancasila values to students. Performing arts will make it easier to internalize the values of Pancasila because it will provide a more real experience compared to classroom teaching methods.
This national seminar is held in order to celebrate the 1st Decade of Performing Arts Education Study Program ISI Yogyakarta.
