The Dance Study Program of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta is organizing the third International Dance Conference and Festival (IDCF) on October 20-21, 2023. This event is a biennial agenda organized to increase knowledge and provide networking space for dance artists and academics from within and outside the country. The International Dance Conference and Festival (IDCF) consists of two main activities: dance performances and international seminars.
This year IDCF carries the theme "Revisit Dance: Body and Movement". Body and movement are the main aspects of dance, the discussion of dance in the academic realm is not only about moving the body but also about how to practice and theorize it. This theme means that we will look at and explore dance as a term, practice, and presentation of movement in the past, present, and future. The discourse will be rolled out in two different forms of activities, namely performances and seminars.
On the first day, October 20, 2023, there will be dance performances from various countries, namely Fairul Zahid (LaSalle College of the Arts Singapore), Lili Wen (Chongqing University of Humanities and Technology, China), Hendro Martono and Ni Kadek Rai Dewi Astini (Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta), Lampung University, and Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia (ISBI) Aceh. Collaborative performances will also be performed by Anna Thu Schmidt (Germany) with dancers from MBKM Dance Study Program ISI Yogyakarta "Astagala Project". Rachel Siringan (Philippines) and Agata Sokol (Poland) will also perform a dance performance with multimedia with students of MBKM Dance Study Program ISI Yogyakarta "Arus Project". The repertoire will be performed in the ISI Yogyakarta Art Laboratory building and in the courtyard of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta, starting at 19.30. The second day, October 21, 2023 at 08.30 will be held a seminar entitled "Revisit Dance: Body and Movement" which is held in a hybrid with keynote speaker Dr. Emma Meehan (Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University, United Kingdom), speakers Anna Thu Schmidt (Germany), Fairul Zahid, MFA (LaSalle College of the Arts Singapore), and Dra.
