The Music Education Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, ISI Yogyakarta will hold a seminar with the theme "Art for Freedom: Art Education as a Means of Achieving Freedom of Learning". The seminar will be held on September 29, 2023 at the Arena Theater Building, Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, Jl. Parangtritis KM 6.5 Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta at 14.00 - 16.00 WIB. The seminar will present two speakers, Sri Wahyaningsih, B. Sc. (Board of Trustees of Sanggar Anak Alam) and Dr. Drs. Hadjar Pamadhi, M. A. Hons. (Lecturer in Performing and Fine Arts Studies at the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University). The seminar will be hosted by Sagaf Faozata Adzkia, S.Sn., M.Pd. (Lecturer of Music Education Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta).
The Indonesian government has always tried to improve the education system. But until now, the Government's efforts still face many problems, such as the gap between education in cities and villages, teaching quality problems, lack of attention to art education, and the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the whole world which results in learning loss being a serious problem to be addressed immediately to prepare the golden generation in 2045 who have comprehensive intelligence, namely productive, innovative, peaceful in their social interactions, and strong character, healthy, healthy in their natural interactions, and superior civilization.
The golden generation of 2045 can be prepared, one of which is through art education to help improve the overall quality of education and contribute to the formation of national character. Arts education can help develop creativity, aesthetic sensitivity, critical thinking skills, and develop a sense of empathy and tolerance. The seminar, which will be held by the Music Education Study Program, will discuss how art education can be a means to achieve freedom of learning and thinking, which is one of the goals of independent education. In this context, art education can help develop creativity and free oneself from existing limitations. This seminar will also discuss various strategies and approaches in integrating art education into the education curriculum in Indonesia. By organizing this seminar, it is hoped that it can increase understanding and awareness of the importance of art education in achieving freedom of thought and improving the education system in Indonesia as a whole.
