The commemoration of Eid al-Adha 1440 H at ISI Yogyakarta was marked by the slaughter of sacrificial animals which was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 starting at 08.00 WIB at the Al Muhtar Mosque ISI Yogyakarta by the ISI Yogyakarta Qurban Committee. The slaughtering of sacrificial animals was also attended by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum., and the Chairperson of the Al Muhtar Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Supriaswoto, M.Hum., as well as the sacrificial donors and academicians at ISI Yogyakarta.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the DKM Masjid Al Muhtar ISI Yogyakarta said that this activity was a form of emulating the sincerity of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail AS and one of the efforts to prosper the Al Muhtar Mosque ISI Yogyakarta. "It is hoped that in the future activities like this will be further enhanced by efforts to coordinate the congregation of the Al Muhtar Mosque through Qurban Savings, so that the number of sacrificial donors will also increase", he said. This year the sacrificial animals slaughtered were 2 oxen and 4 goats. Meanwhile, the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta in his speech welcomed this activity as a form of togetherness among the worshipers who were mostly lecturers and employees at ISI Yogyakarta.
On this occasion, the Rector, representing the sacrificial donors, symbolically handed over the sacrificial animals to the committee for the slaughtering ceremony, which was led by the Chairman of the Qurban Committee, Dr. Budi Raharja, M.Hum., and the reading of prayers by Asep Saepudin, S.Sn., M.A. After slaughtering the sacrificial animals, the event ended with the distribution of qurban meat to the surrounding community in need and the academic community at ISI Yogyakarta.
