Yogyakarta, June 7, 2026 — The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta reaffirms its role as an art higher education institution consistently producing creative, innovative, and relevant works aligned with the development of the creative industry. Through the “VOLFINITY” themed event, Reflection of Art 8, 2024 batch students from ISI Yogyakarta's D4 Batik Craft Fashion Design program will showcase their works in a fashion show format on June 13, 2026, at Sleman City Hall, starting at 12:00 PM Western Indonesian Time until completion.
Reflection of Art 8 becomes a space for student artwork presentations that bring together ideas, design skills, batik craft exploration, and the ability to interpret contemporary fashion trends. Carrying the theme VOLFINITY, this event presents a creative journey interpreted as a limitless process, from the roots of tradition, dialogue of creation, to future orientation.
The theme is formulated into three main ideas: The Roots, The Dialogue, and The Future. These three represent the students' creative process in understanding cultural roots, processing them through artistic dialogue, and then re-presenting them as fashion works that have aesthetic value, identity, and competitiveness.
Through this activity, students not only showcase clothing as a visual product, but also demonstrate an academic process involving research, concept design, material exploration, technical mastery, and the courage to present new ideas. Each creation becomes part of a narrative that shows how batik and crafts can continue to evolve in contemporary fashion.
The presence of Reflection of Art 8 also strengthens ISI Yogyakarta's position as an art campus that has an important contribution to the development of creative human resources. As an art higher education institution, ISI Yogyakarta not only plays a role in preserving tradition but also encourages students to develop innovations directly related to community needs, the industrial world, and the creative ecosystem.
This fashion show is proof that art learning at ISI Yogyakarta is applied and impactful. Students are trained not only to produce works, but also to manage the presentation process, build artistic identity, arrange visual narratives, and understand how works can be communicated to the public professionally.
The Art 8 Reflection activity also serves as an important space for students to expand their creative experience outside the classroom. By exhibiting their work in public spaces like Sleman City Hall, students have the opportunity to interact directly with audiences, the creative community, industry professionals, and the general public. This is part of a learning process that strengthens students' readiness to enter the professional world.
In the context of art and cultural development, the works presented in Reflection of Art 8 demonstrate that batik does not stop as a visual heritage, but can continue to be read, interpreted, and developed through various design approaches. Through the touch of the younger generation, batik emerges as a dynamic and relevant medium of expression with great potential in the fashion industry.
The implementation of this activity simultaneously showcases the quality of vocational arts education within ISI Yogyakarta. The D4 Batik Craft Design program plays a strategic role in producing graduates who not only understand the value of tradition but are also capable of developing work based on skills, creativity, and professional orientation.
The “VOLFINITY” Art Exhibition (Art 8) is expected to be a momentum to strengthen appreciation for student work as well as expand recognition for the capacity of ISI Yogyakarta in nurturing artistic and design talent. Through this event, ISI Yogyakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment as an institution of higher art education that actively builds a creative ecosystem, preserves cultural heritage, and presents innovation for the future.
With the spirit of "Diktisaintek Berdampak" (Impactful Design and Technology Education), "Reflection of Art 8" becomes part of ISI Yogyakarta's contribution in presenting art education that not only produces works but also builds identity, opens spaces for collaboration, and strengthens the position of Indonesian art in the development of the creative industry.
