ISI Yogyakarta Opens Open Call for SAE: Small Acts Everyday International Postcard Art Exhibition 2026

Yogyakarta, May 21, 2026 — The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, through its Fine Arts Department, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, is opening opportunities for international artists, students, creators, and the public to participate in SAE: Small Acts Everyday International Postcard Art Exhibition 2026. This program serves as a platform for international-scale art appreciation, utilizing postcards as an artistic medium, a form of communication, and a trace of the artwork's journey.

Embracing the spirit of “Small Acts Everyday,” this exhibition invites participants to reflect on the small actions in daily life that can bring meaning, good news, and joy. In a fast-paced and digital world, postcards are re-introduced as a medium that is personal, simple, yet holds emotional and cultural power.

Through this activity, ISI Yogyakarta reaffirms its position as an art higher education institution that not only focuses on developing artistic practice, but also actively builds a space for cross-cultural, cross-national, and cross-disciplinary encounters. Postcards in this exhibition are not merely understood as visual works, but also as media for the exchange of ideas, travel archives, and forms of creative communication between artists and the public.

Participants can submit their work documentation for the selection process via the registration link. https://bit.ly/SAEpostcard2026. The deadline for registration and submission of artwork documentation is set for June 10, 2026. The artwork selection process will take place from June 15–18, 2026, and the announcement of selected participants is scheduled for June 19, 2026.

Selected works must be submitted physically via post office with postage stamps and postmarks. This submission mechanism is an important part of the exhibition's concept, as the journey of the work through postal services is seen as an artistic element that enhances the material, historical, and emotional value of the postcard itself. The deadline for submitting physical works via post office is July 3, 2026.

The SAE Exhibition: Small Acts Everyday International Postcard Art Exhibition 2026 will be held from July 24–31, 2026, at the Fadjar Sidik Gallery, ISI Yogyakarta. The presence of this exhibition is expected to broaden the international fine arts network, open spaces for inclusive creative participation, and strengthen the role of ISI Yogyakarta as a center for education, creation, and dissemination of art that is relevant to the times.
