Yogyakarta, May 19, 2026 — Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta is once again opening registration for its Master of Design Program for the 2026/2027 Academic Year through its independent admission track. This program provides an opportunity for bachelor's degree graduates in design to pursue master's-level education while strengthening their academic, research, and design practice capabilities amidst the evolving creative industry, technology, and increasingly dynamic design innovation needs.
The Master's Program in Design at ISI Yogyakarta is open for graduates of Bachelor's degrees in Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Media Design, Digital Media Design, or related design fields. The existence of this program reaffirms ISI Yogyakarta's position as a leading art higher education institution in Indonesia, which continues to play a role in producing creative human resources, researchers, academics, practitioners, and designers capable of meeting the challenges of the times.
Through the Master of Design Program, ISI Yogyakarta provides a space for prospective students to develop design ideas more deeply, whether through design or research approaches. Prospective students are expected to have academic readiness, a portfolio of work, and a thesis plan that shows a contribution to the development of design science, creative practice, and community needs.
The requirements for independent track registration include an ID card and family card, a Bachelor's degree in Design, a transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.75, two letters of recommendation, a portfolio of design works or scientific publications, a thesis proposal, academic proficiency certificate for master's degree, TOEFL ITP or IELTS certificate, and a stamped financial guarantee letter. The portfolio can include project documentation, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, scientific articles, journals, or proceedings.
For prospective international students, there are additional requirements in the form of a special permit letter, a photocopy of the diploma, and a legalization letter for the equivalency of a bachelor's or master's degree in accordance with applicable regulations.
Registration for the Master's Program in Design at ISI Yogyakarta can be done through the official PMB ISI Yogyakarta website at https://pmb.isi.ac.id/program-pascasarjana/. Registration closes on June 18, 2026, with a registration fee of Rp350,000.00. The SPP (School Fee) per semester is set at Rp8,000,000.00 for Indonesian citizens and Rp16,000,000.00 for foreign nationals.
The admission selection will be held on June 24-25, 2026, at the ISI Yogyakarta Campus. The selection test results are scheduled to be announced on July 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM Western Indonesian Time.
