Registration for FTRN #5 2026 Is Now Open; ISI Yogyakarta Strengthens Opportunities for Youth Theater

Yogyakarta, May 5, 2026 — The Theater Department Student Association at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta officially opened registration for the 2026 FTRN #5 on May 4, 2026. This event returns as a platform for competition, learning, and creative development for youth theater groups from high schools and vocational high schools across Indonesia.

FTRN #5 is held as part of ISI Yogyakarta’s commitment to preserving, developing, and broadening appreciation for the art of theater, particularly among the younger generation. Through this festival, students are not only invited to compete but also to engage more seriously with the theater creation process, from script reading and developing performance concepts to group work and presenting their work in the form of short scenes.

Registration for FTRN #5 is open to theater groups from high schools and vocational high schools, with the exception of SMKI, in accordance with the organizing committee’s regulations. Participants must be active students who are still enrolled in the 2026 academic year. To participate in the online selection process, each group is required to pay a registration fee of Rp250,000.00.

As part of the selection process, participants are required to submit their respective school theater group's Curriculum Vitae through the provided registration form. Additionally, participants are asked to upload a video fragment using the selected script via YouTube. Other supporting documents that must be uploaded include a letter of commitment and the personal data of each member, according to the template in the requirements document prepared by the committee.

The timeline for the 2026 FTRN #5 includes the opening of registration on May 4, 2026, the registration deadline on May 18, 2026, and the video submission deadline on June 4, 2026. Complete information regarding registration, requirements, document templates, and technical specifications can be accessed via the QR code on the official poster or the link available on the organizing committee’s information channel.

The organization of the FTRN #5 festival serves as a concrete example of ISI Yogyakarta’s role as an arts university that not only focuses on higher education but also helps build an arts ecosystem starting at the student level. Through the involvement of students, academic departments, and young theater communities, this festival reinforces ISI Yogyakarta’s position as a center for education, creation, and development in the performing arts in Indonesia.

More than just a festival, FTRN #5 serves as a meeting ground for education, creativity, and renewal. Through its student stage, ISI Yogyakarta paves the way for the growth of emerging theater artists who possess the courage to express themselves, the discipline to create, and a sensitivity to the social and cultural life around them.

With the opening of registration for FTRN #5, youth theater groups from various schools are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their best talents. This event also serves as a gateway for the younger generation to get a closer look at the vibrant academic, artistic, and creative atmosphere at ISI Yogyakarta.
