YOGYAKARTA, April 28, 2026 — Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta) is once again opening admissions for Postgraduate Students for the Academic Year 2026/2027, Wave 2. Registration is open from April 10 to July 3, 2026, through the independent pathway for Master's and Doctoral programs, for both regular and special regular classes in the field of Art Governance.

This opening of the second wave of new student admissions is an opportunity for prospective students who wish to deepen their art studies at an advanced level through approaches of creation, study, artistic research, and art management. The Postgraduate Program at ISI Yogyakarta offers an academic space that brings together the strengths of art practice, research, critical discourse, and interdisciplinary art and culture management.

The programs offered include the Doctoral Program in Art, the Master of Art Program, and the Master of Art Management Program. All three are designed to meet the needs for the development of contemporary art scholarship, for artists, academics, researchers, educators, curators, art managers, as well as creative and cultural industry practitioners.

The selection of prospective students is carried out in stages and comprehensively. Based on the announced schedule, the first stage of selection, which is portfolio assessment, will take place from July 8–10, 2026. The second stage of selection, an interview, is scheduled for July 14–16, 2026, while the announcement of the selection results will be made on July 17, 2026.

As a leading arts higher education institution in Indonesia, ISI Yogyakarta continues to strengthen its role as a center for the development of art science, practice, and innovation. The Postgraduate Program at ISI Yogyakarta not only prepares academically superior graduates but also encourages the birth of ideas, works, research, and art management models that are relevant to societal dynamics.

In the Doctoral Program in Arts, students are guided to develop original advanced research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the field of arts. Meanwhile, the Master's Program in Arts provides in-depth study of theory, history, artistic research methodology, art criticism, as well as art creation and appraisal practices. The Master's Program in Arts Management is designed to strengthen students' capacity in managing arts and culture programs, including in the context of art organizations, museums, galleries, performances, exhibitions, cultural tourism, and cultural policies.

The academic support of ISI Yogyakarta's Postgraduate program is strengthened by a faculty comprising professors, doctors, academics, researchers, and art and culture practitioners. This combination of academics and practitioners is a key strength in fostering a learning environment relevant to today's art world developments.

The Master's degree program can be completed with a minimum of 37 credits and can be finished in as little as three semesters, with a maximum of eight semesters. Meanwhile, the Doctoral program has a minimum of 56 credits and can be completed in as little as six semesters, with a maximum of ten semesters.

After that, prospective students will pay the registration fee, complete the online form, and upload the required documents through the link provided by the committee.
