ISI Yogyakarta Student's Final Project Film Represents Indonesia in Juilliard School International Program

Yogyakarta 27 January 2026 - The final project of students of the Film and Television Study Program, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta entitled Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing) made a proud achievement at the international level. The film was selected as the only Indonesian representative in the prestigious “Art of the Score” program organized by The Juilliard School, New York, in collaboration with the Bali International Film Festival.
Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing) is a final project of collective art creation by ISI Yogyakarta students, with Cinta Setia as director and Sebastian Damar Pratama as editor. Both officially held the Bachelor of Arts (S.Sn.) degree on January 19, 2026, before the film was announced as selected for the international program on January 22, 2026 in Bali.

The Art of the Score program is an international initiative that brings together film students from various countries with Juilliard School music students to create original background music for short films. Through this program, films by ISI Yogyakarta students will be collaborated with young composers from the Juilliard School, one of the best performing arts institutions in the world.
The film was produced by Saddam Putra Dewa Rimbawan, who was previously involved in the same program in 2023. This experience is an important asset in ensuring the artistic and technical quality of the film is optimized. The collaboration process with Juilliard School is scheduled to take place from late January to April 2026.

In terms of narrative, Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing) raises the issue of the impact of climate change on the lives of grassroots communities. The film depicts the struggle of a family whose economic conditions are increasingly depressed, so they have to survive by utilizing the Sedekah Rawa Pening tradition. This work was developed through the Shorts Up 2024 program, with an approach that combines environmental issues and the social resilience of local communities.

After the entire music collaboration process is completed, Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing) is planned to be officially screened during the Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) 2026 which will take place on June 1-7, 2026.
This success is a clear proof of the quality of art education at ISI Yogyakarta, as well as strengthening the institution's position as an art campus that is able to produce superior works with international competitiveness. This achievement also emphasizes the role of ISI Yogyakarta students in the global conversation of the film industry and creative arts.
