Yogyakarta, January 8, 2026 - Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta continues to expand access to art education for the community through the launch of Open Class ISI Yogyakarta, an open learning program that is the first step towards developing ISI Yogyakarta's Pre-University program. This program is designed as an initial learning space for prospective students and the general public who want to get to know the world of art, design and culture before pursuing formal higher education.
Through the openclass.isi.ac.id platform, ISI Yogyakarta presents various open classes that allow participants to learn directly from experienced lecturers and art practitioners. This Open Class is a means of introducing the academic ecosystem of ISI Yogyakarta, as well as bridging the interests, talents, and readiness of participants before entering the higher education level of art.
ISI Yogyakarta's Pre-University development plan through Open Class is part of the institution's strategy in strengthening the regeneration of prospective artists, designers, and creative actors from an early age. This program is designed to be flexible, inclusive, and adaptive to the needs of the younger generation, with materials that include an introduction to fine arts, visual communication design, performing arts, music, photography, to cultural studies and interdisciplinary creativity.
ISI Yogyakarta's Open Class not only functions as a learning space, but also as a vehicle for exploring interests and portfolios. Participants will get practice-based learning experiences, academic insights, and an overview of the standards and culture of learning in art universities. This is expected to help participants prepare for the selection process to enter art universities and challenges in the creative industry.
As an art university with a national and international reputation, ISI Yogyakarta places Open Class as part of the institution's commitment to opening up space for lifelong learning (lifelong learning). This program is also an entry point for collaboration between campuses, schools, art communities, and the wider community in building a sustainable art education ecosystem.
In the future, ISI Yogyakarta's Open Class will be developed gradually as the foundation of a structured Pre-University program, with thematic learning schemes, certification, and the potential for learning recognition for further education. Thus, participants not only gain learning experience, but also relevant academic added value.
