Yogyakarta, December 3, 2025 - Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Public Test Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2025-2029 at Aji Yasa Building, Faculty of Art and Design. This activity is an important forum to finalize the direction of policies and strategies for institutional development in the next five years, by presenting leaders, education experts, regional stakeholders, alumni & partners, and elements of the academic community.
The Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., officially opened the FGD and conveyed the main ideas of the Strategic Plan which emphasized the vision of ISI Yogyakarta as a pioneer of superior, creative, innovative and inclusive national art universities based on Pancasila. The presentation also emphasized the importance of transforming governance, increasing the competitiveness of graduates, and modernizing art education to be in line with the development of the art ecosystem and the national and global creative industries, as stated in the public test presentation material.
The next presentation was delivered by the Head of the Strategic Plan Drafting Team, Prof. Dr. Suastiwi, M.Des., who explained the basic concept of preparing the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan document. In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Suastiwi, M.Des. reviewed the evaluation of the achievements of the 2020-2024 main performance indicators, institutional SWOT analysis, and strategic goals which include improving the quality of education, research and art creation, strengthening collaboration networks, and digitizing governance. The presentation material shows that various indicators such as the involvement of lecturers in tridharma, increasing student achievement, and strengthening strategic cooperation have experienced a positive trend in the last four years, as illustrated in the graphs and tables of achievements in public materials.





The public test discussion session that lasted until noon presented several discussants from ministries and local governments. Present as speakers were Prof. Tjitjik Srie Tjahjandarie, Ph.D. (Special Staff of the Ministry of Research and Technology for Governance and Accountability), Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D. (higher education expert), representatives of Paniradya Pati Kaistimewan DIY, and representatives of Bappeda Bantul Regency. The speakers provided strategic input related to the relevance of ISI Yogyakarta's Renstra to national policies, regional needs, the dynamics of higher education in the arts, and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. The discussion was guided by Dr. Dewanto Sukistono, M.Sn., and took place interactively with various responses from FGD participants.
The implementation of activities is supported by a committee that has been assigned through Task Letter Number 8405/IT4.5/KP/2025 dated December 2, 2025. The committee structure includes the chairman, secretary, logistics team, consumption, finance, technical, and cleaning, as listed in the official assignment document.
This public test is an important part of the process of finalizing the Renstra ISI Yogyakarta 2025-2029. All input from experts, stakeholders, and FGD participants will be used to improve the Renstra document before it is established as a guideline for institutional development. Through this forum, ISI Yogyakarta emphasizes its commitment to building an adaptive, relevant, and highly competitive arts university, and is able to contribute to the advancement of Indonesian art, culture and education.
