ISI Yogyakarta-Saturday, November 08, 2025. Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Yogyakarta Special Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) as a strategic step to strengthen collaboration between art universities and the business world and creative industries. The signing took place on Saturday (8/11/2025) on the sidelines of the Regional Conference (Musda) IX KADIN DIY at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC).
The MoU was signed directly by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, S.Sn., M.Sn., along with several other institutions, namely Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), the Indonesian Security Services Business Association (ABUJAPI), PT Pos Indonesia, and the Yogyakarta City Statistics Agency (BPS).
Dr. Irwandi said that the cooperation was an important momentum in strengthening the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, especially through collaboration between academics and creative industry players, arts, culture and tourism.
“As an art college, ISI Yogyakarta is committed to bridging the creative potential of the academic community with the needs of the business world. Through cooperation with KADIN DIY, we want to ensure that the innovations and artworks produced by the campus can make a real contribution to the development of the creative economy and tourism sector in Yogyakarta,” said Dr. Irwandi.
He added that this collaboration opens opportunities for students, lecturers, and art practitioners of ISI Yogyakarta to be involved in various collaborative programs ranging from research, education, to community service activities.
“Art and culture are the main strengths of Yogyakarta. With this synergy, we want to strengthen the downstreaming of art works and research to have an economic impact, become a tourist attraction, and enrich the regional creative industry ecosystem,” he added.


Through the MoU, ISI Yogyakarta will encourage the development of cooperation programs in organizing art exhibitions, cultural festivals, creative content production, strengthening art-based MSMEs, to innovation in the design and branding of tourism destinations.
This collaboration further emphasizes ISI Yogyakarta's role as an arts college that not only produces quality graduates, but also catalyzes the development of the creative sector and regional and national tourism.
With the spirit of collaboration and sustainability, ISI Yogyakarta is ready to synergize with KADIN DIY in encouraging the arts and culture ecosystem as a foundation for strengthening the regional economy based on creativity, innovation, and Yogyakarta's cultural identity.
