Dancing and Reconstructing: International Dance Conference and Festival (IDCF) #4

Yogyakarta, November 3, 2025 - The Dance Study Program of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta held its fourth International Dance Conference and Festival (IDCF). With the theme “Dancing Through the Digital Wilds: Reconstructing Ecological Sensibility”, The festival is a space for ideas and practices to converge between the body, technology and nature in the context of an ever-evolving digital world.

More than 1000 audiences filled the Lab. Seni ISI Yogyakarta. Presenting six dance works from international artists, namely Lucky Wisnu (Indonesia), a collaboration of the Central Kalimantan Dayak Customary Council & ISI Yogyakarta, Samuel (Malaysia), Navee Sasongkroh (Thailand), Yalan Lin (Taiwan), and Fairul Zahid (Singapore).

Through IDCF #4 2025, the Dance Study Program, ISI Yogyakarta seeks to build public ecological awareness through performing arts. This festival is not only a place for cross-country dance appreciation, but also a medium to convey messages of environmental sustainability in a creative and inspiring way. The values of local wisdom are also brought to life in this performance as a form of harmony between humans and nature, an idea that is at the core of this year's theme.

Chairperson of the Dance Study Program, Dr. Rina Martiara, M.Hum, explained that this year's IDCF strengthens ISI Yogyakarta's position as a center for the development of performing arts that is adaptive to changing times. “Through the dancer's body, we relearn about balance, between technology and ecology, between progress and sustainability,” she said.
