Yogyakarta, October 6, 2025 - Institut français d'Indonésie (IFI) Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Fine Arts and Visual Communication Design Study Program of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta held a comic workshop entitled "Painting a Receipt Using the Codes of the Comics". The activity took place at IFI Yogyakarta, Jalan Sagan No. 3, Terban, from 09.00 to 17.00 WIB.
The workshop featured French comic artist and illustrator Guillaume Long, who focuses on recipe-themed comics. The event was part of the French Gastronomy Festival, a celebration of French cuisine adapted with the introduction of the archipelago's signature dish, sayur lodeh.
A total of 30 participants participated in this activity, consisting of 10 Visual Communication Design students, 15 Pure Art students, and 5 professional artists. The activity began with a live cooking session by Ms. Sari, followed by illustration practice using watercolors. Participants created comic strips based on visual research and the process of cooking lodeh vegetables.
The Director of IFI Yogyakarta, Margaux Nemmouchi, and the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, were also present to witness the workshop process. Guillaume Long selected the five best works to be published on his personal social media accounts as an appreciation of the participants' creativity.
This event serves as a platform for cross-disciplinary cultural and knowledge exchange, strengthening collaboration between French cultural institutions and the academic art world in Indonesia.
