The Karawitan Department of the Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) ISI Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Austrian Institut für Ethnomusikologie der Kunstuniversität Graz (KUG) presented a concert entitled "Sculptures in Time: New Composition for Javanese Gamelan". The event will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 19.00 WIB at the Arena Theater FSP ISI Yogyakarta and is free and open to the public.
The program featured new compositions for Javanese gamelan by four talented young composers including Dion Nataraja, Wahyu Thoyib Pambayun, Willyday Namali, and Yustiawan Paradigma Umar. In addition to the musical performance, along with the concert, an artist talk was also organized by Erie Setiawan, S.Sn., M.Sos. as the moderator, to broaden the audience's insight into the creative process of the composers.
This activity is part of the implementation of the collaboration between Kunstuniversität Graz (KUG) and ISI Yogyakarta, with the support of the Ernst Von Siemens Music Foundation and the Society of Friends of KU.
The "Sculptures in Time" concert is an encounter between Javanese gamelan tradition and contemporary composition, as well as a realization of international collaboration in the field of music.
