Galeri RJ Katamsi, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta once again became a space for cross-cultural encounters through the Joint Fine Art Exhibition "RESIPROKAL: Saling Sapa". The exhibition initiated by Inter Kultura and ISI Yogyakarta was officially opened on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 16.00 WIB, and will end on September 6, 2025.
This event was organized to welcome a guest visit from Kobe Design University to Yogyakarta. With the theme Reciprocal: Saling Sapa, the exhibition is interpreted as a meeting space as well as an exchange of ideas between artists, lecturers, and students from two different cities, Yogyakarta and Kobe. The exhibition can be an entry point for other events, from the mutual greetings between Yogyakarta and Kobe artists to open other opportunities for cooperation, said the exhibition curator Rain Rosidi, M.Sn.
The works on display reflect a variety of visual approaches and cultural backgrounds, but are united in a spirit of mutual respect and learning from each other. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that a wider network of cooperation will be built, as well as an opportunity to understand the dynamics of contemporary art in a cross-cultural context.
According to Dr. Suwarno Wisetrotomo, M.Hum. as a lecturer of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta and Representative of Inter Kultura, this exhibition was held as a form of reciprocal visit of Kobe Design University lecturers. "In accordance with the theme of the exhibition, Reciprocal, this exhibition is a return visit after last year artists from Yogyakarta visited Kobe," he said.
The exhibition can be visited by the public every day at 10:00-16:00 WIB at RJ Katamsi Gallery, 1st Floor, ISI Yogyakarta. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the works of artists from Yogyakarta and Kobe free of charge.
