Another proud achievement was made by ISI Yogyakarta students. Diva Aurel, a student of the Ethnomusicology Study Program, along with her duet partner Silet Open Up, had the honor of performing at the Merdeka Palace at the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, Sunday, August 17, 2025.
In a historic moment witnessed live by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the ranks of ministers, state guests, and all Indonesian people through national television broadcasts, Diva Aurel and Silet Open Up delivered a musical performance that combined the richness of tradition with a contemporary touch.
Their stage act not only captivated the audience at the Merdeka Palace, but also gained widespread appreciation on social media. This performance shows the work of ISI Yogyakarta students in elevating the nation's cultural identity to the national stage.
The Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. in his statement, expressed his pride at this achievement. "Diva Aurel's presence at the Merdeka Palace is proof that ISI Yogyakarta students are able to contribute significantly to the national celebration, presenting works of art that strengthen Indonesian identity," he said.
Diva Aurel followed her senior Salma Salsabila who had performed at the Merdeka Palace. Through this opportunity, ISI Yogyakarta hopes to continue to produce young artists who are globally competitive, but still rooted in the richness of the arts and culture of the archipelago.
