Dr. Citra Aryandari, MA. lecturer of the Ethnomusicology Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, ISI Yogyakarta, actively participated in the IASPM-SEA Forum (International Association for the Study of Popular Music - Southeast Asia) held at National Taiwan University, August 6-8, 2025.
In the prestigious forum, Citra presented her research titled "Decentralization vs Cultural Centralization: The Paradox of Dangdut Koplo in Indonesian Popular Music". This research explores the paradox in the phenomenon of dangdut koplo as Indonesian popular music, specifically how the dynamics of cultural decentralization confronts cultural centralization in the Nusantara popular music scene.
The involvement of ISI Yogyakarta lecturers in this international forum not only enriches global academic insights about Indonesian popular music, but also strengthens Indonesia's role in ethnomusicology discourse in the Southeast Asian region.
This participation is in line with ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to developing culturally and academically relevant research, as well as further emphasizing the existence of ISI Yogyakarta in the international arena.
