FSMR ISI Yogyakarta Digitizes Haji Widayat Museum Collection as a Form of Impactful Campus

The Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) ISI Yogyakarta carried out digitization activities of the Haji Widayat Museum collection in Mungkid, Magelang, from January to June 2025. This digitization activity was carried out as a real contribution to the preservation of national cultural heritage and the implementation of the program Impactful CampusThis is the reason why universities are encouraged to be present and contribute directly to society.

This activity succeeded in digitizing 456 collections of Museum Haji Widayat into video and photo formats. The results of this digitization activity were submitted by the Dean of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Edial Rusli, M.Sn. to Fajar Purnomo Sidi as the director, on July 28, 2025, at the Haji Widayat Museum, Magelang.

Museum collection digitization activities involve lecturers and students of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta. Through a collaborative approach, this activity not only contributes to cultural preservation, but also becomes a vehicle for direct learning for students in facing work challenges in the real world.

The Dean of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Edial Rusli, M.Sn., said that this activity is a concrete form of the role of academics in serving the community. "Through the program digitization of this collectionWe are committed to making the science of recorded media art not only academically relevant, but also socially and culturally useful. The digitization of the Haji Widayat Museum collection is one concrete form of that commitment," he said.

This activity is expected to expand public access to Haji Widayat's great works through digital platforms, as well as support the museum's efforts to document and promote their collections more widely, across generations and across geographical boundaries.

With this initiative, ISI Yogyakarta, through FSMR, proves that art universities are able to become drivers of impactful change-not only in academic spaces, but also in society and cultural spaces.
