ISI Yogyakarta and East Kalimantan Provincial Government Strengthen Commitment to Establish ISBI East Kalimantan

The Rector and the leadership of ISI Yogyakarta held a meeting with the Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, Ir. H. Seno Aji, M.Si. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in the East Kalimantan Deputy Governor's Meeting Room. This meeting aims to discuss the acceleration of the establishment of the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture (ISBI) of East Kalimantan as a follow-up to the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 50 of 2025 concerning the establishment of the ISBI East Kalimantan working unit.

So far, ISI Yogyakarta has been appointed as a companion in the process of establishing ISBI Kaltim into an independent work unit under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). In an effort to maintain academic quality, ISBI Kaltim is supported by contract lecturers and flying lecturers from ISI Yogyakarta. Currently, ISBI has opened the second batch of new student admissions for four study programs, namely Dance, Ethnomusicology, Craft, and Film and Television, with an independent selection pathway after a vacuum for several years.

Registration for ISBI East Kalimantan's New Student Admission program can be done through ISI Yogyakarta or through the East Kalimantan Provincial Secretariat at the East Kalimantan Governor's Office. Registration for new students was opened on May 27 and ends on July 31, 2025. The East Kalimantan Provincial Government also provides support in the form of scholarships for students in need. Scholarships are expected to be a stimulant for high school / vocational school graduates in East Kalimantan to continue their studies at ISBI Kaltim.

Lectures are currently still taking place at the ISBI Kaltim campus which is located in the UPTD Building of the Mulawarman Museum Complex, Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The new ISBI Kaltim campus will be built on 30 hectares of land by the Ministry of Education and Technology in Tenggarong District in 2026. ISBI Kaltim is expected to become a center for cultural arts development, support local content in schools, and produce excellent graduates in the field of arts in East Kalimantan.
