Located in the heart of Rome, Italy, at the Medina Art Gallery, an international art exhibition presents an in-depth exploration of human identity and the changing landscape of the contemporary era. The exhibition has two main themes, Mixing Identities and Future Landscapes, which took center stage in the 14th edition of the event.
Mixing Identities dives into the complexity of consciousness and the hidden sides of human identity. Through an immersive approach, the works on display place the body as a medium that is constantly changing, full of meaning, and becomes a communication tool with an infinite variety of expressions.
Meanwhile, Future Landscapes highlights the shifting boundaries between body, mind and urban space. The theme presents the idea of a landscape that is conceptual and infinite-more a product of the mind than a physical form, reflecting how cities and identities evolve in future landscapes.
More than just a visual exhibition, this event is also a space for dialogue between art and life, inviting visitors to reflect on the role of space and identity in shaping the modern human experience. The lineup of works by international artists enriches the exhibition's narrative with a variety of unique and fresh perspectives.
One of the participants in this exhibition is Irwandi, an Indonesian photo artist and Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, whose work highlights the relationship between the human body and brain in the development of Artificial Intelligence. Through an experimental visual approach, Irwandi offers a reminder that the presence of Artificial Intelligence through its various automations can be detrimental to the human ability to think. Through a 1-meter work titled Bleeding Mind: The Cost of AutomationThe reminder is expressed through the visualization of the silhouette of a human body whose head and brain are injured. This work is made by combining photogram techniques on media of cyanotype For Irwandi, art is a medium for expressive communication, voicing criticism in the social, political and humanitarian realms. The 19th century photography technique, which is still handmade, allows for expressive forms of communication by combining relevant visual elements. The point is what to say, and what form is appropriate as a symbol that the public understands. For Irwandi, photography is more than just reproductive representation.
The exhibition officially opens on May 2, 2025 at 18:00 Rome time and runs until May 15, 2025. The public can visit the exhibition every day from 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 19:00 Italian time.
