The Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta signed a cooperation agreement with Institut Français Indonesia (IFI) Yogyakarta. This agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions in the fields of education, cultural exchange, and the development of performing arts. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement was carried out to oversee various forms of collaboration that have been and will be carried out in the future.
This cooperation covers various aspects, such as the implementation of the Tri Darma of Higher Education which includes education, research, and community service. In addition, this agreement is also in line with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program which encourages students to gain off-campus learning experiences through various collaborative programs. Other forms of cooperation include organizing joint performances, workshops, and artist residency programs involving students and lecturers from both institutions.
In this signing ceremony, FSP ISI Yogyakarta was represented by Dean I Nyoman Cau Arsana, while IFI Yogyakarta was represented by Director Francois Dabin. Both parties expressed the hope that this collaboration can run well and provide benefits for students, lecturers, and the wider art community.
As an initial implementation of this collaboration, the Department of Dance FSP ISI Yogyakarta and IFI Yogyakarta organized a hip-hop dance workshop performed by Cie De Fakto, a dance group from France. This workshop provided an opportunity for students of the Department of Dance FSP ISI Yogyakarta to broaden their horizons and skills by learning the hip-hop dance genre from international practitioners.
This workshop is expected to be the first step in a series of exchange programs between Indonesian and French artists. In addition to enriching students' perspectives on art, this activity also opens up opportunities for the development of broader cooperation in the field of performing arts in the future.
With this cooperation agreement, FSP ISI Yogyakarta and IFI Yogyakarta are committed to continuing to innovate in creating collaborative spaces that can enrich the arts ecosystem in Indonesia. In the future, it is hoped that there will be more programs and activities involving both institutions in an effort to advance the performing arts at the national and international levels.
