Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta presented the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, Dr. Amaliah Fitriah in a public lecture held on Friday, December 13, 2024.In front of ISI Yogyakarta students, Dr. Amaliah Fitriah delivered public lecture material with the title "Education, Culture and Study in South Korea." Dr. Amaliah Fitriah said that ISI Yogyakarta students can continue their studies at art colleges in South Korea by utilizing various scholarships. "The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is one of the leading scholarships that can be accessed by all countries, including Indonesia". He further said that "GKS provides advanced study opportunities ranging from diploma to doctoral and interestingly, for the S1 program, Indonesian students who have just graduated from high school can already register".
In 2024 there are at least 200 scholarship quotas for various levels of study that can be utilized by students from Indonesia. The enthusiasm for this program is also quite significant and to date there are as many as 3,000 Indonesians who take advantage of scholarship programs in South Korea. Opportunities like this must certainly be optimized by ISI Yogyakarta students.
According to the Rector, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. ISI Yogyakarta organized this public lecture to open information about scholarship opportunities and the potential of ISI students to study in South Korea so as to develop themselves in one of the countries with a very advanced cultural arts industry. He also said that "South Korea is famous for its worldwide pop culture, such as K-Pop and K-Drama. We hope this step can encourage ISI students to create works of art that are not only aesthetically valuable, but also have commercial value and can capitalize on it," he added.
ISI Yogyakarta continues to increase cooperation with world-class partners and one of them is with universities in South Korea. This year, with the help of the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, ISI Yogyakarta successfully signed cooperation documents with two South Korean universities Sungkyun Kwan University and Seoul National University. This collaboration is expected to further improve ISI Yogyakarta's Main Performance Index and ISI Yogyakarta's level at the international level.
