Iwan Nazif, S.T. is a professional in the field of comic artist and Creative General Manager at Bumilangit, who has shared his knowledge of comic design, especially in terms of character development and characterization. Intellectual Property (IP) in Visual Communication Design (DKV) Program, Faculty of Art and Design, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. This activity is part of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia 2024.

This learning has been carried out for four meetings with a total duration of 12 learning hours. Starting on Monday and Tuesday, October 07 - 08 and October 21 - 22, 2024 at 13.00 WIB - finished. The purpose of the learning process from this practitioner is to introduce students to designing a character to how the comic industry in the world.

In today's creative industry, the IP development process around comic characters involves several key steps such as: Concept Creation and Development, Copyright Protection, Licensing and Branding for Merchandising, Intellectual property (IP) development through outsourcing, Intellectual property management, and Global networking and distribution. The steps discussed in class are focused on the points of Concept Creation and Development, Merchandising, and IP Development through outsourcing.

Armed with extensive experience in the industry, Iwan Nazif can guide students professionally, especially in designing comics. According to the practitioner, the character design work initiated by DKV ISI Yogyakarta students in this assignment is mostly visually feasible to be developed both into comic stories later, as well as for the transfer of vehicles and comics. merchandise. Some of the works that were considered the best by the teacher were given appreciation in the form of an artbook by Iwan Nazif himself.
