Responding to government policies in terms of Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka, (MBKM) in mid-2020. The Visual Communication Design Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts, ISI Yogyakarta has implemented an applicable learning process that directly targets industry needs and responds to community needs. Collaborative and participatory learning has been designed since the start of MBKM by involving partners. With the involvement of partners in learning, students become more responsive and explorative in dealing with problems that exist in society and industry.
In implementing Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), DKV Study Program designs a curriculum by placing students not only as ready-to-use objects / ready to help partners, but rather as learning subjects. This is where the collaborative-participatory point is important, students take learning outside the classroom accompanied by partners and also accompanying lecturers from the DKV Study Program who have groups of expertise that are in accordance with the form of out-of-class learning undertaken with partners.
Through out-of-class learning for one semester, the output products produced by students can be directly used by partners. Of course, the output product is not something instant, but students have gone through a long research process and mentoring in producing work. So that the resulting outcomes can be relevant to the learning outcomes of each convertible MK. Many of the output works in the MBKM DKV Study Program can be accessed by the public and some of them continue to be the final project of DKV study program students.
In the last three years, the DKV ISI Yogyakarta Study Program has designed and organized the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program to improve the quality of learning including the implementation of Case Method and Team Based Project.
