ISI Yogyakarta received students participating in the Batch 4 Merdeka Student Exchange (PMM) on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Multipurpose Building of ISI Yogyakarta, at 13.00 WIB until completion. The reception was marked by a ceremonial received by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. In this Bacth 4, ISI Yogyakarta received 115 students from 40 universities outside Java. Students participating in PMM come from Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Bali.
This PMM activity opens opportunities for students to take part in the learning process on any university campus in Indonesia as part of efforts to strengthen and or expand their competencies. In addition, through the Merdeka Student Exchange program, students are expected to increase their national insight, love for the country, and have an understanding of diversity and tolerance. Students will have a broad understanding of the diversity of cultures, customs, ethnic groups, languages and various potential resource wealth and other potentials owned by the nation and state. Develop intensive encounters and dialog in diversity and mutual understanding so as to create strengthened unity as well as increase understanding of SARA diversity and the spirit of unity.
PMM is a student mobility program with funding from LPDP for one semester to gain learning experience at universities in Indonesia. In 2024 as many as 975 registered to take part in PMM at ISI Yogyakarta and 115 students were accepted to take part in the program at ISI Yogyakarta.
The presence of students from various universities will certainly lead to positive interactions between students and between students and lecturers, exchanging experiences and adjusting to each other in academic life and daily life. Strengthening the sense of unity, tolerance in diversity and strengthening each other is certainly the expected goal of this program in creating a superior young generation of Indonesia.
