Assistant Dean I, Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) ISI Yogyakarta, Dra. M. Heni Winahyuningsih, M.Hum opened the Tradition Music Performance, which carries the theme "Tradition Music, Sparking Youth Creation", on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 19.30 WIB at the Art Laboratory Building, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. The performance was organized by UPT Laboratorium Seni and Concert Hall Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Karawitan Department and the Ethnomusicology Department of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta in commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day. This activity presents various types of traditional music from various regions, combining aspects of art and culture that are packaged in musical offerings. This performance also provides a unique experience for the audience. Of course, this is done as an effort to promote, preserve, and appreciate the richness of traditional music culture owned by the Indonesian nation.
The performance began with remarks from the Head of the Art Laboratory and Concert Hall of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Drs. Gandung Djatmiko, M.Pd. The event continued with remarks as well as opening the performance by the Assistant Dean I, Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) ISI Yogyakarta, Dra. M. Heni Winahyuningsih, M.Hum.
The performance featured seven repertoires from lecturers and students of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, namely Lingkung Lembur by Cepi Irawan, Talu Masjolo by Aji Santosa Nugroho, Tetalu Abreg by Sukotjo, Kinasih by Ribeth Nurvijayanto, Maha Muda by Bayu Setiaji, Padahal by Krismus Purba and M Yoga Supeno, Paripurna by Suhardjono. This performance was supported by one hundred and seventy-five musicians. The diversity of traditional music works performed is expected to increase public appreciation of art. This performance will further emphasize the existence of art, both academically and in the creative industry.
The performance involved international students of ISI Yogyakarta and students of the College of Aerospace Engineering. The performance, which was open to the general public, made the Art Laboratory Building of the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta crowded with the general public who wanted to enjoy traditional music performances.
