This year's anniversary carries the theme Towards Golden Indonesia: Accelerating Creative and Innovative Human Resources. This anniversary event welcomes the momentum of the Golden Indonesia in 2045. At the historic momentum of a century of Indonesia, the idea, discourse, and ideas of the Golden Generation emerged. One of the visions of the Golden Indonesia in the Sustainable Economic Development sector of the Industry and Creative Economy subsector is the strengthening of the creative and digital economy structure which focuses on: (a) increasing the competitiveness of human resources and creative/digital businesses; (b) strengthening the ecosystem; and (c) developing integrated digital transformation to boost economic productivity and efficiency.
The urgency of accelerating human resources based on creativity and innovation is inseparable from several facts and data on the creativity index. Indonesia's creativity is among the lowest ranks compared to other countries in the world. The 2015 Global Creativity Index (GCI) ranked Indonesia 115th out of 139 countries. Indonesia's innovation index data doesn't say much either. Based on the 2019 Global Innovation Index (GII), Indonesia has a score of 29.8 or ranks 85th out of 129 countries in the world. The GII is a benchmark used to assist policy makers in stimulating and measuring innovation activities. Innovation is the driving force of a country's socio-economic development. In the ASEAN region, Indonesia's innovation ranking is the second lowest. The only other neighboring country in ASEAN that made it into the world's top 10 is Singapore with a score of 58.4. Malaysia is ranked 35th.
Despite Indonesia's relatively low creativity and innovation index, in contrast, Indonesia's Creative Economy sector in 2016 reached IDR 922.59 trillion and contributed 7.44% to the total national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This percentage beats the creative economy contributions of Russia and Singapore, although it is still below the United States as the mecca of the film industry and South Korea with its K-Pop boom.
Along with the contribution of the Creative Economy sector to national GDP, the Global Innovation Index also shows Indonesia's strengths, especially in the education indicator. Indonesia's higher education is considered to have strong competitiveness. In the QS University Ranking Top 3 indicator, Indonesia ranks 34th out of the listed countries. In addition, university collaboration in the field of research and development also occupies a fairly high position, which is ranked 27th.
This data makes higher education have a great opportunity to contribute to the acceleration of Human Resources (HR). In the context of higher education in the arts, this acceleration includes the fields of creativity and innovation. Therefore, how art higher education responds to the vision of the Golden Indonesia 2045 by actively contributing to the structure of the creative economy will be described by key speakers and resource persons.
