Yogyakarta \u2013 The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta hosted the opening of the Yogyakarta Special Region Provincial Student Arts Week (Peksimiprov DIY) in 2026, which took place at the ISI Yogyakarta Concert Hall on Thursday (June 18, 2026). This event serves as a strategic momentum to bring together the best artistic talents of students from various higher education institutions in DIY, while also strengthening the ecosystem for fostering student art achievements leading up to the 2026 National Student Arts Week (Peksiminas) XVIII.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region V DIY, student affairs leaders from participating higher education institutions, accompanying lecturers, and student delegates from various campuses in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing LLDIKTI Region V DIY, Prof. Setyabudi Indartono, M.M., Ph.D. From the participating higher education institutions, attendees included the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Dr. Gatot Sugiharto, S.H., M.H., the Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Prof. Dr. Guntur, M.Pd., the Head of the Talent Event Team of Sanata Dharma University (USD) Eko Aris Budi Cahyono, M.Eng., as well as representatives from the student affairs division from Universitas Alma Ata, STKIP Catur Sakti Yogyakarta, Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta, Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta, and other higher education institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening was preceded by participant registration, followed by an opening by the master of ceremonies and the singing of the Indonesia Raya song. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Student Arts Development Agency (BPSMI) DIY and concurrently Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni Affairs of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Muh. Kholid Arif Rozaq, S.Hut., M.M., delivered a report on the implementation of Peksimiprov DIY 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his report, Dr. Muh. Kholid Arif Rozaq emphasized that Peksimiprov is a platform for nurturing student talent that is not only competition-oriented but also serves as a space for collaboration, appreciation, and strengthening student character through art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeksimiprov is an important means for developing creativity, strengthening inter-university student networks, and preparing the best DIY delegates to compete at the national level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening atmosphere became even more festive with artistic performances from the previous year's Peksimiprov champions. The first performer was the 2nd Place Winner in Dance (Cecakal) from ISI Yogyakarta, who presented a dance work with the power of artistic exploration and richness of cultural expression. The next performance featured the 2nd Place Winner in Keroncong from Yogyakarta State University, who delivered a fresh and creative keroncong music performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, Prof. Setyabudi Indartono, M.M., Ph.D., representing the Head of LLDIKTI Region V DIY, expressed appreciation to BPSMI DIY and all universities that consistently support the development of student talent through art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, Peksimiprov is not just a competition, but an important part of building superior, creative, and characterful human resources. Art plays a strategic role in shaping students' social sensitivity, creative thinking skills, and innovative capacity, which are needed to face future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official opening of Peksimiprov DIY 2026 was conducted by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, S.Sn., M.Sn. In his speech, the Rector emphasized that art is a crucial instrument in human and civilization development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the implementation of Peksimiprov DIY 2026 is strong evidence that higher education institutions in DIY have a shared commitment to building a space for actualization for students through art and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cISI Yogyakarta is honored to host Peksimiprov DIY 2026. This event not only births achievements but also brings together ideas, creativity, and the spirit of collaboration among students from various higher education institutions. This is the space that nurtures a creative generation capable of making an impact on society through art,\u201d said Dr. Irwandi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the Rector emphasized that the presence of Peksimiprov is in line with the spirit of ISI Yogyakarta as an art higher education institution that continuously encourages talent development, innovation, and artistic contribution to humanity. This aligns with the theme of ISI Yogyakarta's 42nd Anniversary, \u201cRedefining Arts Impact: Art, Humanity, and Creativity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Peksimiprov DIY 2026 will feature various art competitions participated by students from both public and private universities in DIY. The top winners will then represent the Special Region of Yogyakarta at the Peksiminas XVIII event in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the implementation of Peksimiprov DIY 2026, ISI Yogyakarta once again reaffirms its role as a national center for art and creativity development that not only produces works but also nurtures a generation of young people who are accomplished, cultured, and capable of making a real impact on society through the power of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
