Yogyakarta, June 11, 2026 \u2014 The short documentary film \u201cDJUM,\u201d created by students from the Bachelor of Film and Television program, Faculty of Audio Visual Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, has won the \u201cBest Production with Strong Social Message and Humanitarian Contribution Award\u201d at the Golden FEMI Film Festival 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This award is a proud achievement for ISI Yogyakarta because a work born from the academic learning process was able to compete internationally. At the Golden FEMI Film Festival 2026, \u201cDJUM\u201d became one of the works recognized among more than 9,600 films from 130 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 18-minute and 46-second film is directed by Ahmad Brilian Maulana Vitjayanto and produced by Selat Sunda Creative. \u201cDJUM\u201d tells the story of Jumadi, a 69-year-old scavenger who has dedicated his life for over four decades to his family. Through Jumadi's life, the film presents a portrait of love, sacrifice, hard work, and a father's resilience in facing life's various trials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main strength of \u201cDJUM\u201d lies in its ability to transform a simple story into a powerful message of humanity. The film not only records social realities but also presents values of empathy, solidarity, and reflection on human dignity. Because of the strength of its message, \u201cDJUM\u201d is considered worthy of an award that emphasizes the aspects of social and humanitarian contribution in film production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the awards ceremony in Sofia, Bulgaria, the award for \u201cDJUM\u201d was symbolically received by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Sofia, representing Indonesian filmmakers. The presence of KBRI Sofia served as a form of Indonesian cultural diplomacy through the medium of film, while also strengthening the role of artistic works as a bridge for international friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This achievement adds to \u201cDJUM's\u201d list of international accomplishments. Previously, the film was a Finalist at the 2025 Documentary Film Festival, a semifinalist at the Tianjin International Academic Film Festival in China, and was selected for a number of other international film festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of \u201cDJUM\u201d demonstrates that the academic environment at ISI Yogyakarta is capable of producing artworks that are not only artistically strong but also socially relevant and globally competitive. This achievement also solidifies ISI Yogyakarta's position as an art higher education institution that consistently encourages students to produce creative, critical works that contribute to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these achievements, ISI Yogyakarta continues to strengthen its reputation as an art education institution that provides opportunities for students to process, experiment, and bring local Indonesian stories to the world stage. The \u201cDJUM\u201d award is proof that works stemming from the social experiences of the community can have universal expressive power and be appreciated by the international public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
