Yogyakarta, May 10, 2026 \u2014 The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta reaffirms its role as a leading higher education institution in the arts by organizing a Workshop Series from June 22\u201324, 2026. This event brings together practitioners from the fields of Visual Arts and Design, Performing Arts, and Recorded Media Arts to discuss artistic practices through an interdisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Workshop Series is open to students, practitioners, artists, and the general public who wish to broaden their horizons regarding the creative process, cultural context, and ways to interpret artworks as critical reflections of social or artistic realities. Over three days, participants will engage in discussions and hands-on practice with speakers who have extensive experience in their respective fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day, June 22, 2026, activities will focus on the field of Fine Arts and Design. Suwarno Wisetrotomo will present material on \u201cIf Artworks Could Speak: Critique in Art and Cultural Discourse\u201d at the Ajiyasa Building, FSRD, ISI Yogyakarta. In another session, Nurohmad will discuss \u201cEcological Practice and Cultural Context\u201d in the Audio Visual Kriya Room, FSRD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day, June 23, 2026, the Workshop Series continued in the Faculty of Performing Arts environment. Ramanta Alkaro Sinulingga will present the topic \u201cMusic is a Language: Reading Signs and Meanings in Sound\u201d at the Music Auditorium. Meanwhile, Abdi Karya will review \u201cPerformative Tradition: Re-reading Cultural Ritual as Contemporary Art\u201d at the Musical Theater Study Program Stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the third day, June 24, 2026, activities will focus on the field of Media Recording Arts. Juang Manyala will share creative experiences through the material \u201cFrom Scene to Score: The Creative Process of a Film Composer\u201d in the PFT Classroom on the 3rd floor of FSMR. Wahyudin will discuss \u201cVisual Recording as an Ethnographic Medium in Indonesian Culture\u201d at the FSMR Audio Visual Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this activity, ISI Yogyakarta demonstrates its commitment to developing art education that is not only oriented towards technical skills, but also towards the ability to read signs, understand cultural contexts, build ecological awareness, and position art as a medium for social reflection. This cross-disciplinary approach is important in equipping generations of artists, academics, and art practitioners to face the challenges of the times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
