Yogyakarta, May 11, 2026 \u2014 The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta is once again solidifying its position as an art higher education institution actively developing academic discourse, culture, and global issues through the organization of the International Djogja Earthsounds Fest 2026 (IDEF 2026). This event will take place from July 21\u201325, 2026, at ISI Yogyakarta, under the theme \u201cSacred Music, Ecological Spirituality, and Cultural Preservation.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the IDEF 2026 series, the committee is opening a Call for Papers for academics, researchers, artists, cultural practitioners, students, and the general public who are interested in the relationship between music, spirituality, ecology, and cultural preservation. This event is organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Ethnomusicology Society (MEI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Call for Papers raises a number of sub-themes, namely Ritual Music and Nusantara Cosmology, Sacred Soundscapes and the Environment, Sacred Music in the Ecological Crisis, as well as Knowledge Transmission and Revitalization of Tradition. Through these themes, IDEF 2026 is expected to be a meeting space for interdisciplinary ideas that connect artistic practices, traditional knowledge, and ecological awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISI Yogyakarta views this activity as an important momentum for expanding the role of art universities in responding to contemporary issues. Art is not only positioned as an aesthetic expression, but also as a medium of knowledge, spiritual reflection, strengthening cultural identity, and an effort to build awareness of environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selected participants will have the opportunity to publish their articles in the SINTA 2 indexed Journal of Urban Society\u2019s Art at no publication cost, as well as in an international ISBN\/ISSN-indexed proceeding for free. In addition, participants will also receive a seminar kit and an e-certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The abstract submission deadline is June 8, 2026, acceptance announcement is June 15, 2026, full paper submission deadline is July 6, 2026, the conference is on July 23, 2026, and paper finalization is September 23, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through IDEF 2026, ISI Yogyakarta strengthens its contribution as a center for the development of art, culture, and science relevant to global challenges, while also expanding its international academic network in the fields of ethnomusicology, performing arts, cultural ecology, and tradition preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
