During his academic and artistic visit to ISI Yogyakarta, Alexander was accompanied by Gabriel Laufer, a percussionist from Belgium.

This visit was filled with a Percussion Masterclass organized by the D4 Music Performance Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta. The event provided a valuable learning space for participants to deepen their techniques, musicality, and interpretation in percussion playing. A total of four solo participants and one percussion ensemble group attended this class and received direct feedback from professional music practitioners who are active on the international stage.

Through this masterclass, ISI Yogyakarta not only provides learning that is close to global professional practice, but also strengthens the academic art ecosystem that is open to the exchange of international insights, experiences, and artistic standards. The presence of Alexander Radziewski is proof that ISI Yogyakarta continues to develop as a meeting point between art education, professional practice, and global networks.

After the masterclass, Alexander Radziewski and Gabriel Laufer continued their visit to the Ethnomusicology Study Program to see firsthand the variety of Nusantara ethnic musical instruments that are an important part of the artistic knowledge wealth at ISI Yogyakarta. This visit demonstrated that ISI Yogyakarta is not only strong in Western music education and modern performance, but also excels in the preservation, study, and development of Indonesian traditional arts.

The series of visits also brought the two to the Balinese Gamelan class taught by the Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts at ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. I Nyoman Cau Arsana, S.Sn., M.Hum. This moment became an important encounter between world music traditions and the richness of Nusantara performing arts, while also showcasing how ISI Yogyakarta is able to provide a complete academic experience: modern, rooted in tradition, and relevant in a global context.

The presence of international artists on campus affirms that ISI Yogyakarta is increasingly recognized as an art higher education institution capable of building cross-cultural and cross-traditional dialogues. Activities like these strengthen ISI Yogyakarta's role as an impactful art campus, not only in nurturing creative talent but also in building international networks that support the improvement of learning quality, institutional reputation, and the university's bargaining position globally.

Through academic and artistic activities featuring world practitioners, ISI Yogyakarta continues to affirm its commitment to becoming a leading center for arts education that combines the excellence of tradition, innovation, and international collaboration.

Public Relations Documentation for the Music Performance Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta

Public Relations Documentation for the Music Performance Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, 22 April 2026 – Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta kembali menunjukkan posisinya sebagai perguruan tinggi seni yang memiliki daya tarik internasional melalui kunjungan musisi Eropa, Alexander Radziewski, pemain timpani solo Symphoniker Hamburg, Jerman, yang telah menempati posisi tersebut sejak 1987.
