Yogyakarta, January 5, 2026 - Lecturers and students of the Art Conservation Study Program at Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta carried out an academic visit to the Yogyakarta Palace in order to strengthen learning in the Photography Conservation course. This activity also involved Dr. habil. Patricia Engel from the University of Continuing Education Krems and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Harno Dwi Pranowo, Professor of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Gadjah Mada University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The academic visit aimed to conduct a survey of the photography collection owned by the Yogyakarta Palace, as well as to observe firsthand the conservation and preservation practices of photography collections applied in the Palace environment. Through field observations, students gained a contextual understanding of the handling of historical photographic works that have artistic, scientific and cultural values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is an important part of the curriculum development efforts of the Art Conservation Study Program, especially in strengthening the Photography Conservation course. The learning is designed so that students not only understand the technical aspects of conservation, but are also able to integrate art, science, and cultural context approaches in the practice of art conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary academic collaboration also reflects ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to providing experiential learning and expanding international and national cooperation networks. The presence of conservation and chemistry experts enriches students' perspectives in understanding the challenges and strategies of photography conservation comprehensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISI Yogyakarta Art Conservation Study Program expresses its appreciation and gratitude to the Yogyakarta Palace for the acceptance, support, and opportunities provided. This activity is expected to provide a meaningful learning experience and contribute to strengthening the competence of ISI Yogyakarta graduates in the field of art conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
