ISI Yogyakarta, November 14, 2025. Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta continues to show its commitment in strengthening collaboration between campus and society through the Art Innovation Program Nusantara (PISN) Year 2025. One of its flagship activities is a program entitled \u201cImplementation of Javanese Hybrid Vocal Learning Innovations in Improving the Musical Competence of the Young Generation\u201d, <\/strong>which was held at the Great Hall of Caturharjo Village, Kapanewon Pandak, Bantul, <\/strong>on Sunday (10\/11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This PISN activity is an important part of the effort to realize an Impactful Campus, where art knowledge does not only develop in the academic space, but also directly present in the community. Present at the opening of the event, Caturharjo Village Head H. Wasdiyanto, S.Si., village officials, cultural activists, and members of Sanggar Catur Budaya as activity partners. From ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Eli Irawati, S.Sn., M.A. as the Head of the Activity as well as the Head of LPPM ISI Yogyakarta, along with two lecturer team members were present: Ujang Nendra Pratama, S.Kom., M.Pd. (Faculty of Performing Arts) and Riza Septriani Dewi, M.Ds. (Faculty of Fine Arts and Design). This activity also collaborated with several students from each faculty as a form of collaborative work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, the Head of Caturharjo Village expressed his appreciation for the program that combines the spirit of innovation and cultural preservation. \u201cThis program provides a space for young people to learn, create, and love their own culture in a way that is appropriate for the times.\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The PISN program, which was obtained through a Ministry of Science and Technology grant, is designed to strengthen synergies between universities, art communities, and the community in developing research-based art learning models. Through the concept of Javanese hybrid vocals, ISI Yogyakarta introduces traditional vocal learning methods enriched with digital approaches, making it more adaptive for the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dr. Eli Irawati, this hybrid vocal innovation is a combination of traditional Javanese vocal techniques with modern learning methods. \u201cWe want to show that traditional art is still relevant. With an innovative approach, tradition becomes a living inspiration that is close to the current generation.\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training, which took place at Sanggar Catur Budaya, involved local teenagers and art students. A hybrid learning system was implemented through a combination of face-to-face sessions in the pendopo and easily accessible digital materials. This approach not only strengthened musical understanding, but also connected participants to the aesthetic and philosophical values in the Javanese vocal tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a form of support for the sustainability of community arts activities, ISI Yogyakarta handed over infrastructure assistance in the form of a sound system with a capacity of 5000 watts to Sanggar Catur Budaya. The handover was carried out on Monday (10\/11) by Dr. Eli Irawati and witnessed by the village officials and LPPM procurement officials. The head of Sanggar Catur Budaya, Mrs. Lidya Permata Sari, M.Pd., expressed her gratitude for the support and emphasized that the facility would be used to support training and art performances at the local level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PISN 2025 concluded with a performance of a new work entitled \u201cTresno Budoyo\u201d created by Dr. Eli Irawati. This composition combines slendro and pelog tunings with a modern rhythmic touch, presenting a harmonious collaboration between tradition and innovation. The performance of the teenage trainees received a rousing welcome from the residents who also captured the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n

Through this program, ISI Yogyakarta reaffirms its role as an art college that is impactful, adaptive, and oriented towards community empowerment. PISN is a door for the younger generation to recognize and develop local culture through a creative approach that is relevant to the times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cArt is a part of life, and through art we build identity, character, and social empathy.\u201d<\/em> Dr. Eli Irawati, emphasized the spirit of ISI Yogyakarta as a campus that brings positive changes to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
