Students of the Product Design Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta won the 3rd Best Award in the Craft Category of IFCA (Indonesia Fashion and Craft Awards) 2021. Natasha Nisa Islami, Syaiffudin Zuhri, Muhammadi Rizal Maulana and Ahmad Yoga Firmansyah are students of the Product Design Study Program who won the third best award for the craft category in IFCA 2021 through a work entitled "Kumuri Chair". For the first and second best awards in the craft category, Difliyatul Isna Alvionita with a work entitled "Lunas Lamp" and Raditya Mahardika Siswosuwarno with a work entitled "Sasmara". The awardees succeeded in beating three other participants who made it to the final stage.
Indonesia Fashion and Craft Awards (IFCA) is an annual competition organized by the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries, Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. This competition is organized as an effort to provide opportunities for young designers to create innovative and creative products, while still paying attention to the balance of nature and harmony of human relations. The design competition consists of two categories: craft and design. fashion. IFCA can be participated by young designers who are maximum 30 years old, have a newly established small or medium-sized creative business (starup), can be participated in individually or in groups and has the status of an Indonesian citizen.
In 2021, IFCA was organized with the theme "Adaptability in Responsible Design". The theme was chosen so that young designers are able to come up with innovative product design ideas that are able to adapt to various market conditions and desires by referring to the principles of Responsible Design. sustainabilityThis means contributing to social, cultural, environmental or economic sustainability.
Kumuri Chair is a chair made from corncob waste. Kumuri Chair was inspired by the abundance of corncob waste in agricultural areas, thus encouraging the creation of sustainable materials that can be an alternative to wood as raw material for making chairs or other furniture. With the creation of this work, it is expected to be an inspiration to reduce the use of wood in the creation of furniture so as to reduce logging as it is currently happening.
The IFCA 2021 award ceremony was broadcast live on the Youtube channel of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. The winners of the first to third best work will receive prizes of 30 million, 20 million and 15 million. The winners will also be assisted by the Directorate General of IKMA of the Ministry of Industry.
